If you were to draw a chair in its simplest form, you would probably draw this chair, which evokes that of our countryside and large family gatherings. Yet the apparent simplicity of the Flintstone chair is an illusion. To make it, each leg is individually worked to bring out the grain. The unsightly reinforcements have disappeared in favour of a high quality assembly.
The caning has been replaced by a carefully patinated leather weave. The rustic character of the classic oak has disappeared under the immaculate white patina. The woodwork is done by hand to achieve soft shapes and to give the illusion that this chair was perhaps the first made by man.
