Bretonvilliers
An exceptional residence on Iles Saint-Louis in Paris

By Damien Langlois-Meurinne

At the very center of Paris, embraced by the silvery waters of the Seine, lies the Île Saint-Louis. This is the historical soul of the city, and it has maintained its original beauty over hundreds of years. This remarkable island is an undisturbed enclave at the heart of the lively, bustling capital.

Welcome to the Trois Bretonvilliers, an exclusive address dreamed up by the celebrated designer and interior architect Damien Langlois-Meurinne.

This exceptional residence is located in a former hôtel particulier that has been home to noble families, philosophers, and historians.

As you step into the entrance hall, the beautiful marble flooring catches your eye. Waves of black and white sweep through the stone, bringing it to life and leading you forward.

The grand salon is a luminous roomgrand, with strikingly high ceilings and echoing volume. Two mirrors face each other from opposite walls, adding depth and complexity. Furnishings in bright shades of cream and ivory amplify the light.

The large sofa is a real invitation to relax. The two coffee tables are like two clouds in the room. The metallic wood top seems to float above a white lacquer base. A velour footstool balances perfectly with the large armchair.

Throughout the space, modern details are thoughtfully juxtaposed with classic elements. The sharp, bold lines of a sculptural fireplace play against the gentle curves of the room’s original moldings and ornate wall paneling.

A large buffet in contrasting fraké wood warms up the atmosphere in the grand salon.

The reading room is a cocoon to sink into, a place to enjoy the peaceful passage of a few hours. Thick, plush carpeting and upholstery absorb footsteps and voices. The walls are lined with textured bronze-hued paneling to create a warm, inviting atmosphere. The 2 coffee tables in black brushed oak stand out against the thick white carpet. The geometric shape of the tabletop harmonizes perfectly with the large photo hanging on the wall.

Enter in the dining room. This is a sophisticated and comfortable space to host a leisurely meal. Chairs in curly fabrics contrast with vertical lines. As you admire the luxurious carpet underfoot, you notice that its golden streaks mimic sunrays.

“No dream is more exciting than opening your eyes on a stunning decor in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.”

Damien Langlois-Meurinne

Take a cup of coffee through to the expansive master bedroom, where you’ll find an elegant terrace. Lofty ceilings multiply the volume. Large built-in closets line one wall, giving plenty of space to tuck away belongings.

You pause by the sofa, running your fingers along the nubby, alabaster fabric, and a sense of harmony and tranquility fills you.

A superb white lacquer desk has found its place in front of the bed.

As you look out over rooftops and narrow streets, the years slip away and centuries of history come to life. This is a version of Paris that very few will ever experience.
